As a cyclist, a motorcyclist and a car driver, I have no biased on this subject.

The fact is, our road conditions are atrocious.

The stretch past Altrincham Golf Course has resulted in a large detour for my friends and I through Timperley to avoid that excuse of a road. It's more of an ancient Roman path. If you cycle far enough to the right of that particular cycle lane, you obstruct motor vehicles which results in frustration on their behalf, which I fully understand.

The stretch of road (I've seen demolition derby circuits in a better state) from the traffic lights at Marsland/Brooklands/Hope Road, heading towards Sale Moor is just another example of a dangerous surface.

One of the problems is the roads are dug up by various contractors, then patched back rather than a complete surface covering. One winter later and it breaks up.

I've used the roads in France and Spain and they are far superior to ours in the UK.
