WHEN I was walking home on Wednesday, October 15 at around 5 pm on Broad Road - between Winstanley Road and Oldfield Road, a fluffy tortoise coloured cat ran into the road and was hit by a car which did not stop.

I know you don't have to stop. - but it would have been reassuring to know that the person was interested as to how the cat was.

The driver did not have much of a chance because the cat came from no where.

However, with the help of a very kind man in the van behind the car I managed to pick the cat up and take it onto the pavement.

At this point I thought the cat had died but it seemed to rally round. I asked two ladies who were also very helpful if they knew who the cat belonged to and unfortunately they did not.

During that time the cat had come round and was making an attempt to go which in the end it did in the direction of Winstanley Road into a garden.

I am writing in the hope that the cat found its way home and is OK, also it might appear that it is not injured because it appeared to run with no problems.

Fingers crossed all is well.
