I feel I must take issue with J Newcombe regarding his/her recent ‘not enjoyable’ visit to Sale Leisure Centre (Messenger, August 13).

All I can say is that if you had visited Sale Leisure Centre 18 to 20 months ago, your complaints would have filled a whole page of this newspaper.

Your misery would have started in the car park, where due to people parking all day to use the Metrolink, you would have spent most of your time searching for a space on local streets.

You make your way to the male changing rooms where the smell of blocked sinks, drains and toilets overwhelm you.

You then get changed on filthy floors and dirty cubicles and try and find a working locker.

Making it to the main pool, aggressive anti-social swimmers rule the roost.

You leave the pool for a rest in the closed cafe area, where you struggle to find a seat that has not been eater away, leaving dirty, damaged foam on view.

You decide to use the toilet before leaving in disgust, finding it is blocked. Do you complain? Maybe, maybe not.

Well, 25 customers did complain, a petition was set up and put before senior management of Trafford Community Leisure Trust.

As a result, many problems were dealt with overnight and many are still being resolved.

The centre manager, Craig Lomas, has worked so hard motivating his excellent staff, who have in return implemented many innovations to improve customers’ experience.

So, J Newcombe, get yourself a membership and come back to Sale Leisure Centre with your family and friends, and join the customers and staff who are trying to return the facility to its rightful position as Trafford’s flagship leisure centre.
