IN response to the letter from Gaynor Leigh about taxis not knowing the way.
The indication from the examples given, except for the Manchester Airport one which states 'black cab', is that the so-called taxis she is getting in are in fact private hire vehicles, and if they are out of area vehicles working as Private Hire, they may well be marked taxi, but in Trafford they are not such.
This is a common in Trafford where there are in excess of 100 out of area taxis working as private hire.
These drivers have little or no knowledge of the area and rely on a Satnav to get around the area.
My advice is when she or anyone else contacts a private hire operator, they ask for a Trafford licensed driver.
