AS a regular user of the trams it has annoyed me to see several of them damaged by graffiti.
Pristine, virtually new vehicles wrecked by yobs. Do people turn a blind eye, or are they oblivious to this mindless behaviour?
Personally I think it's the former, people are generally reluctant to get involved, too scared to speak up in fear for their own safety.
Which begs the question why are there not more police on the Metrolink trams, or PCSOs?
Police are a rare sight on the system and when I have seen them it's been in the company of Metrolink staff, congregating on platforms trying to catch fare dodgers.
I've never felt unsafe using the service but surely it would reduce the risk of such vandalism, carried out by half wits with nothing better to do or simply on a mission to impress their mates.
For many visitors the trams are among the first things visitors see when they come to Manchester or Trafford. Surely we want to give the right impression?
