IN celebration of National Volunteers’ Week this week (June 1st – 7th), I am writing to tell you about the fantastic work of our Marie Curie volunteers.

As the UK’s leading charity for people with a terminal illness, Marie Curie provides care and support to people with a terminal illness and their loved ones in the Altrincham area and across the UK. This work would not be possible without our wonderful network of volunteers.

In the Greater Manchester area alone, Marie Curie has 254 registered volunteers with many more volunteers coming forward to support one off appeals throughout the year. These volunteers give up their time and energy to support our services, help raise money and raise awareness for our charity.

Volunteers are involved in every area of our organisation, from offering companionship as a helper volunteer, to running our shops, holding art workshops at our hospices, and braving the elements all year round to hold collections in supermarkets, shopping centres, football grounds and garden centres.

So please join us in thanking, and celebrating all of the Marie Curie volunteers for the incredible work they do.
