RE: disabled parking at new Altrincham Hospital
THANK you for your article in the Messenger.
I have also complained on the Altrincham Hospital website about the lack of parking for the elderly and disabled patients. The comment from the spokesperson about having three disabled car parking spaces ...is ludicrous!
The disabled parking in Regent Road is too far for my elderly father of 94 to walk. I cannot leave him at the entrance to the hospital because he has no spatial awarenesS, has dementia and cannot stand for the period of time it would take for me to leave him at the main entrance, park the car and then hopefully find him near the entrance.
The unhelpful comment made by a receptionist was for me to bring a second person to stay with him while I park the car. That is impossible.
Also the walk from the main entrance to the lifts for appointments upstairs is too long for people like my Dad..
I challenge the health trust spokesperson to cope with the issues raised by so many of us in the limited time the new hospital has been open.
I agree with another reader that the parking at the old hospital was much easier because of the road parking and the short walk necessary to reach the lift to other outpatient departments.
Thank you for your help.
