WITH nearly 30,000 people living with dementia in Greater Manchester and numbers set to rise, we want your readers to get involved in Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Awareness Week ( May17 -23).
Dementia can affect a person’s relationships, leaving them feeling isolated and alone but our local support helps keep people connected to their lives and the people who matter most.
Life doesn’t end when dementia begins and new experiences can bring joy to a person’s life even as memories fade. That’s why, to mark Dementia Awareness Week, I’d like to encourage your readers to ‘do something new’ and help raise awareness of the condition.
From dining at a new restaurant to visiting a local landmark for the first time, everyone can play their part.
People can share their photos of them ‘doing something new’ by tweeting us @alzsocnwengland or posting on our Facebook page facebook.com/AlzheimersSocietyNorthWest using the hashtags #DoSomethingNew for #DAW2015.
Sue Clarke, Alzheimer’s Society Operations Manager for Greater Manchester
