I'M just so very sad that Trafford Council has found itself in the situation where it has been forced to cut back on services to us, the council tax payer.

Sadly, it seems that those most affected are going to be the young and the less fortunate in our society.

Obviously, the council has an obligation to protect the core services, education and social services, which inevitably means it's the 'fringe' services that get hit hardest.

But I would like to make one point. The provision of library services is not a 'fringe' service.

All councils have a statutory obligation to provide adequate library services.

One wonders how that stacks up with the intended cuts in Trafford.

I would like to here our councillors explain that one away.
