I WORKED for Trafford Council for 10 years as a gardener, but this was changed to Groundforce Officer.

I had to go to college to gain qualifications for my job.

I, along with others, were told we would have to take a £2,000 pay cut so that other employees could have a pay rise.

So I earned the same as a non-driver, who had no qualifications.

I didn't like this but had no choice, it was that or leave the company.

I have since left on ill health retirement.

We had to take a pay freeze, then we had to accept a pay rise of one per cent.

How can a pay rise of more than £9,000 be right for [leader of the council] Sean Anstee?

Yes, we can vote him out but whoever takes his place will take the same allowance as Sean.

Sean is putting most of the [council] services out to tender as he says best value is the way forward to save money.

Is his increase coming from these savings.

If so, then we are not saving are we?
