IT has always been my view that the most important duty the council has is to protect its most vulnerable residents.
I have therefore been extremely disappointed by the recent chaos brought about by changes to the home to school transport scheme for children with Special Educational Needs.
These changes have been driven by attempts to save money and reduce services and we are now seeing the impact of this on vulnerable young people and their families.
Routine and reliability are absolutely essential for these children, yet the council have prioritised savings over service yet again.
No one denies that the Council has significant savings to make but the ruling Conservative group needs to show some compassion, right this wrong, and deliver a home to school transport service that is fit for purpose before it causes any more upset and disruption.
