AS a trader on Altrincham market for over three years, I would like to take issue with the bold statement of Councillor Michael Hyman that ‘The transformation of the market quarter is complete’, because quite frankly, it’s far from it.

Since I actually work on there, I think I’m qualified to say it’s a shambles.

As it stands, the place looks like a refugee staging camp.

Has Councillor Hyman or anyone from the Sale and Altrincham Messenger actually taken a detailed look at the lower market in the ‘new market square’ when its trading.

I suggest Councillor Hyman and other members of Trafford Borough Council, visit the outdoor market section on a Saturday and that they ask the existing traders and the general public of Altrincham what they think of the new set-up.

I also suggest whoever designed it, to try working on it.

When it rains, traders and stock are soaked.

On the rare sunny Saturday, we have to cover the stock due to the sun bleaching everything.

The slightest gust of wind blows all the stock off the stall, it’s intolerable.
