REFERRING to Julie Brinnand’s article, Messenger, May 15. (Bin rules ‘Flawed and childish’) I wholeheartedly agree with Julie Brinnand, when she says giving red cards for incorrect waste recycling is both flawed and childish.
It was only recently Trafford Council was praising the residents for the excellent recycling work they were doing and just because some residents may have made the mistake and put waste in the wrong bin, they are bringing out this red card rule where you have to phone the council to have your bin emptied. In other words, I wouldn’t mind if the profits from recycling went straight to the residents who do all the work, but they don’t.
So come on councillors, scrap this ridiculous red card rule before you dig yourselves a ‘hole’ you can’t get out of.
