RE: 'My stolen bin has cost me ££25'
I was surprised the reader agreed to give the Council £25. My bin disappeared' recently and I too was asked for the money to replace it.
I spoke to a very helpful lady in customer service who advised I appeal on the grounds that I followed all collection procedures and took necessary steps to ensure it was in the correct collection point.
I won and did not pay – indeed I never will.
I have paid my taxes since the age of 19 and refuse point blank to pay this extortionate fee.
Incidentally I wonder if the members of the council have to pay this fee if their bin is stolen?
I very much doubt it. I am sure they would pop down to their depot for another one, one of the perks of being an employee I am sure.
I told the customer service that if this new bin was stolen I still wouldn't pay again.
Do you wonder why I don't vote.
