I JUST wanted to inform your readers about a care service called ‘Later Life Living’.

My mother suffers with Alzheimers and I am her full time carer.

She seemed very lonely even though I was with her all the time. took her out and about and did everything I could, but she would often just stare out of the window, when at home, lost in her own world.

Then somebody mentioned Later Life Living, which is local to me on the border of Sale Moor.

Mum started attending there one day, then two, now she goes daily and absolutely loves it.

I have seen such an improvement in mum. She speaks more, laughs more and goes daily to ‘the club’ – she has changed so much.

She says she now has friends, comes home with cakes she has baked, flower arrangements she has made with help, manicured, exercised amd best of all, happy to be part of the community again with her own friends and her own life.

I just wanted to tell everyone that there is help for both ‘carers’ and the cared for out there.

Although, i did wonder why our GPs don’t have a list of day care services as that is where we all initially go for help – now there’s an idea.

Come on dementia-friendly Sale – ask your GP to supply a list and make life easier for them and us.
