I FULLY endorse the comments of John Bladen with his recent letter.

All politicians of whichever party and at whatever level once elected ignore manifesto promises and renege on items such as referenda.

Many see the job as a licence to print money with extravagant and inflated expenses claims.

Their indifference to public opinion became clear when they voted themselves double digit pay rises while restricting pay rises for the populace at either zero or one percent. How insulting is that?

We are told we can use the power of the ballot box to remove politicians but only every five years.

We were promised a Bill in Parliament whereby if we the electorate thought our local representative was inept, corrupt or just plain useless we could hold local vote to kick them out.

Significantly this idea has now been abolished, I wonder why.

With all this going on it is no wonder that the electorate feel voting is a waste of time.

Imposing fines for not voting as in Australia is not the answer nor is postal voting as this has been shown to be open to major abuse.

Wake up you politicians and be aware that eventually you will be called to answer.
