This is why The Queen is the real deal

Re: ‘We need a republic’ – you can keep your republic!
WHEN you think of worldwide rulers, heads of state, corrupt regimes, tin pot dictators – (some of those elected) you can see why we are the envy of the world and why people abroad understandably want to share in our news.
Think too about large organisations, how some we previously held up in our estimation have failed us, the banks, the NHS, The Church, The BBC etc – yet the monarchy has remained constant.
On the subject of being elected, the Queen didn’t suddenly decide to be Queen, she is our Queen by accident of birth and has dedicated her life so much serving our country long after most of us have put our feet up and retired.
Unlike Edward VIII, who abdicated putting his own pleasure above his duties to the country, our Queen has been an inspirational servant to us all.
Being elected isn’t always what it’s cracked up to be, when you consider the crackpots, actors, and clowns the world has elected over the past 60 years.
Our Queen has remained above politics, a wise sounding board and a valuable resource to 12 prime ministers.
I teach disadvantaged teenage lads in Oldham and discussing the monarchy, most were totally ignorant of what the Queen actually does until they went on line and did some research.
‘Awesome’ was the reaction when they realised what she gets through!
I learned she looks forward to every day – even though it may be the100th hospice she had opened and she researches everything beforehand diligently.
I was honoured to attend one of the royal garden parties this year and there were plenty of worthy people there of all backgrounds who had done good/voluntary/community work, fought in battles, won races/medals for their country, they were proud to be there.
They didn’t want a grinning Tony Blair handing out awards or a grey-suited John Major or any ‘here today, gone the next’ elected nobody, they want the real deal, HM the Queen.
And on the subject of cost, for most of us that equates to about the price of a Mars Bar.
I would say that is a real deal!
