Kris Smith said he and Dannii Minogue have a lot of respect for each other
Kris Smith has spoken for the first time about his split from Dannii Minogue.
The male model, 33, broke his silence following the end of the relationship, which the pair announced earlier this month.
"It's a struggle but we're the best of friends and we have a massive mutual respect for one another," he told Australian TV show The Circle.
"We're just taking it one day at a time."
The pair announced their split on Twitter, just weeks before it emerged that Dannii, 40, had an affair with her X Factor boss Simon Cowell before she got together with Kris.
The former rugby player said the former couple's 21-month-old son Ethan helped them through a difficult time.
"He just picks you up every single day. He's a blessing," he said.
