Jessie J has revealed that she was reduced to tears every day by a teacher as she pursued her dream of becoming a singer.

The Voice coach said the experience had made her tough on some of the contestants on the BBC One show.

The Price Tag singer, 24, who is a coach on the programme with veteran singer Sir Tom Jones, Black Eyed Peas star Will.i.am, and The Script frontman Danny O'Donoghue, told the Radio Times: "I'm the most critical of the four of us because I've only been in the industry for 12 months and I remember what it takes to make it."

The Brit school graduate added: "I used to have a teacher who made me cry every day. She said the reason she was so tough on me was because she knew I had potential, and I've always remembered that."

The live finals of The Voice begin on Saturday night.
