Keegan and George engagement off

Michelle Keegan and Max George have called off their engagement - but insist they're still an item.

When asked by a US radio show if he was set to tie-the-knot with Michelle, The Wanted heartthrob Max - who popped the question to the Corrie star last June - replied: "No, no. Not any more."

The line then went dead and when the singer returned on air, he made no further comment on the situation.

But Max later revealed on Twitter: "Hey everyone, so just to clear up any rumours, me and Shell are still very much together, just there is no wedding. The call got cut off....

"And made it sound much worse."

A spokeswoman for Coronation Street added: "They are both traditionalists and realised that there is no point in being engaged until they are in a position to plan a wedding."

Max and his fellow Wanted stars are currently busy trying to conquer the US market.
