Katy Perry has revealed that she could have appeared in The Help.

The Brit-winning songstress, who will make her big-screen 3D debut in the concert documentary Katy Perry: Part Of Me this summer, admitted she could have starred alongside Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, Emma Stone and Jessica Chastain in the Oscar-winning film.

"There was a time when I was going to be involved in The Help - just a small part, I wasn't going to be Emma Stone or anything - but I couldn't because the shooting schedule conflicted with the release of my record," she told US Teen Vogue.

"And I was upset about that; I knew it was going to be an important film," she added.

Katy - who lent her voice to Smurfette in The Smurfs and has had guest cameos in Get Him To The Greek and The Muppets - revealed she would like to show off her acting chops.

"Not that I need to do drama first, but I do want to do something that makes a strong impression. You don't really get off the hook being a musician first. I feel like the stakes are really high," she said.

The 27-year-old admitted the upcoming film will show fans what goes on behind the scenes.

"I wanted to show people this parade that surrounds me, I wanted them to see the engine. I wanted people to be able to experience the tour and all the joy it brought, which is why we shot it in 3D," she added.
