Visitors Bury brought a solid 6 player team with an average grading of 119.
Urmstons best chance was through their 2 top players results going with their rankings, plus a performance on one of the lower boards which on paper was looking pretty unlikely.
Within 90 minutes Urmston had fallen behind with a defeat on the bottom board. However things looked brighter soon after as Tim Plunkett & Keith Johnston both earned draws swinging the match in Urmstons direction.
Our board 3 was comprehensively beaten, leaving the ‘big guns’ to slog it out; but as the match passed the 2 hour mark it became apparent that both these games were heading for a draw, and an away victory for Bury.
Final Score Urmston 2 Bury 4
