The recent league win against Eccles on 21st May which put Urmston on 14 points, secured promotion as runners-up! with a game in hand.

Since the league table were last updated Urmston 2 have defeated Stockport, Bury, Oldham and Eccles, and with Champions Worsley continuing their unbeaten run with victories against Stockport and Bury the rest of the table is Stockport finish on 12 points. Bury remain on 7 points with 2 games left and Warrington on 8 - neither can catch Urmston. Eccles have a maximium of 12 and Oldham 8. Worsley have been very strong and have won 10 out of 11 with 1 game left.

Urmston finished the season in the Alfred Milner Cup as defending Champions playing a stong Salford team; who on paper looked to have the edge with their 200 graded No.1 paired against Urmstons Dennis Owen (142); and with Urmston calling on 3rd team players Mark Davis & Tim Plunkett to cover for 2 regular players. Urmson got off to a great start with a quick victory on board 4, this was followed by a couple of draws. Salford squared the scores with an expected board 1 victory, only to to have their hopes dashed by Urmston securing victory on 2 of the remaining 3 boards.

Thanks to everyone for all their efforts this season - a brilliant result, especially so with the first team also being promoted.
