Urmston Chess Club were up against it, being a player down for their first summer fixture, away at local rivals Chorlton.
With the match standing at 2 –1 in favour of Chorlton, the pressure was on Urmston Capt. J Eglinton to pull something out of the bag.
His important victory, tied the match at 2 – 2. A pleasing start to the campaign.
Urmston will entertain Swinton in their first home match on 24th July.
