COMPETITION is hotting up in Messenger’s Talented Trafford competition.

Messenger, in association with sponsors Altrincham-based J Davidson scrap metal processors, has launched Talented Trafford – and has invited readers to send in audition videos or audio files of them doing what they do best.

The standard of entries in the eight to 17 years category has been outstanding but Messenger editor Keith Morris would like to see more competition in the 18 and over section.

He said: “I know there are a lot of talented people out there and I can’t believe they are all too shy to enter. We’ve had some truly outstanding videos from our younger performers but the adults are really slow in coming forward – and time is running out to enter.”

To give more adults the chance to take part, the closing date has been put back until Monday, August 12, and entering the competition could not be easier.

You can email your video to talent@messengergrp.co.uk or, if the video is already on YouTube, simply email the YouTube link to the same email address.

All videos need to be under 50MB and in any format other than Flash.

We will also accept audio files. Either send an mp3 or give us the details of a platform (such as Soundcloud), where we will be able to download it.

Please don’t forget to give us your contact details.

A selection of the best videos and audio files will be posted on Messenger’s website to face the public vote, with the top acts going through to a live final in September.

Anyone entering the eight to 17 years category will need to prove they have their parent or guardian’s permission. Public voting will be by phone or text.

Proceeds from sales of tickets from the final will go towards Messenger’s charity, Hearts and Minds Challenge, which aims to raise £1m to build a school for children with autism.

Usual Newsquest competition rules apply.
