MANCHESTER Airport bosses confirmed there could be delays at passport control as a result of tomorrow’s public sector strike action.
Some 15,000 passengers are expected to arrive on November 30 and a spokesman said: “We are working closely with airlines and the UK Border Agency to develop contingency plans for the industrial action including ensuring minimum staffing levels which we are confident will be achieved.
“Unfortunately, this still means that passengers can expect a longer than normal wait at passport control during busy periods, but we do not anticipate significant disruption.
“Arriving passengers can also help to ease pressure on passport control by having travel documents, including passports, available and taken out of any wallets as well using the automatic e-passport gates whenever possible.
“The industrial action is very unlikely to have any effect on departing passengers.
“We are also advising anyone due to collect arriving passengers on November 30 to monitor flight arrival information so that they are not kept waiting unnecessarily.”
