THE inaugural Sale Ladies team Trios Open proved to be a big hit as players enjoyed a fabulous prize table and also helped to raise £410 for Factor 50, a malignant melanoma research fund.
Organiser Hilary Tarleton said: “The winners shared a prize table to the value of £750 and players came from far and wide including Whittington Heath, Mold and Llanymynech as well as players from many local clubs.
“Our aim was to ensure that the players had a great day in the theme of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and they all received a memento pack of ball, tees and ball marker.
“We were helped by some very generous sponsors including Scottsdale Golf, Ladybird Cottage Crafts, Damson Restaurant, the Easy Fish Company, Pokusevski Deli, Timpson Ltd, and Caroline Glain Faciatherapist.
“The competition format was very popular with teams who were led in by the Disley trio of Ann McCormick, Sue Gaffney and Annastasia Codd with 73 points.
“This left them one clear of Carol Brady (Davyhulme Park), Jo Coxon (Stamford) and Jacquie O’Donnell of Sale who were one clear of Caroline Perkin and Diane Barnet of Hale GC and Sada Kilby of Sale.”
