Christleton v Bowdon

IN one of the few games to beat the inclement weather Bowdon continued their good form with an emphatic 99 run victory, Christleton won the toss and decided to bowl on a pitch which usually aids the batsman.

Bowdon made a steady but cautious start, with Stephen Ball continuing his fine form with a patient 30.

Aussie Glen Parker was more cautious than usual as he progressed to 39 off 96 balls.

Bowdon were indebted to former Lancashire star Mark Chilton who held the innings together with a hard hitting run a ball 80, ably supported by Trevor Gane with a quick fire 23.

Bowdon ended on 188-5 off their 50 overs, a score which Christleton must have fancied reaching.

Christleton opener Naseer proceeded to smash the Bowdon openers to all parts of the ground with a superb 50 off 39 balls with five fours and three sixes.

Thankfully his dismissal coincided with the introduction of skipper Gareth Edwards and Mark Chilton into the attack.

They bowled superbly, and Christleton were dismissed for only 89 in just 39 overs.

Edwards finished with 3 for 16 off his 14 overs and Chilton 4 for 15 off 15 overs.
