Makeover at Hale Village Lawn Tennis Club

AFTER 91 years the Hale Village Lawn Tennis Club has received a much needed makeover.

The club’s old shale courts have been uprooted and replaced with brand new state of the art “Tiger Turf” courts.

The grand opening of the new courts took place on April 27.

Players of all ages and all abilities gathered to watch ribbon cutting ceremony. Veteran Anne Lindsay did the honours with up and coming star Charlie Bradbury, who is placed in the top 40 in the country for his age, pictured.

With the courts declared officially open adults and kids alike rushed on to enjoy the new surfaces. Unlike the old shale courts these courts now allow year round play with no break for winter needed as well as significantly reduced maintenance. It is hoped that a new generation of young players will see the courts as a great opportunity to break out the tennis racquet.
