Trafford MV cricket

MV seem to have turned a corner as all three of Trafford MV's teams in action last weekend won their games.

The 1st XI recorded their first win of the season by 24 runs at home to Winsford. Steve Warner and skipper Mark Law both made good contributions as MV made 120, their highest score since the opening day of the season.

Law then took five wickets and Simon Pomfret and Steve Haughton two apiece as Winsford were bowled out for 96 and MV lifted themselves off the bottom of the league.

The 2nd XI travelled to Winsford and came away with a convincing 68-run win. Outstanding performances with the bat came from skipper Andy Kershaw (78 not out) and Ian Walsh (61) in MV's 185 for 3 before Colin Rothwell produced career best figures of 7-44 to bowl the home side out for 117.

To cap the fine weekend, MV's under 15s recorded their first win of the season at Wythenshawe. Rory Bartlett, Joe Brayne and Tom Colley all passed 20 in MV's 107 for 7. Chris Greasley and Josh Blower both took two wickets apiece before Colley produced a match-winning spell of 4-4 (all bowled)in 2.3 overs to skittle the home side out for 83.
