SALE F.C. enjoyed the perfect season in 2011/2012 after winning every match they played.

The Heywood Road outfit therefore secured a league and cup double, having claimed the South Lancashire & Cheshire Division 1 title as well as triumphing in the Cheshire RFU Bowl.

Sale finished the league with a maximum points tally of 130 points after earning a bonus point in every game thanks to their try-scoring frequency, some 39 points ahead of distant runners up New Brighton.

This season’s performance is all the more incredible given that Sale were bottom of the league for early part of the 2010/11 season thanks to eleven consecutive defeats.

Following investment in the playing squad, the club avoided the drop and haven’t looked back since.

After amassing a colossal 1,488 points this season, including two centuries, Sale now look forward to next season in the sixth tier of rugby union in the North 1 West league.

Director of Rugby Richard Boundy said: “We have a good group of lads here who share the club’s ambition. There’s lots of competition for places.”

“My job was to get us promoted and we’ve done that in style. Next season we will let the same team show us what they can do.”
