Medal success for Sohaib

A STUDENT from Hale Barns fought to win a silver medal in a tough match against a higher graded fighter in a taekwondo competition in Bradford.

Seventeen-year-old Sohaib Ashraf took part in the Korean martial art competition earlier this month and left his very first competition with silverware after fighting two rounds.

Sohaib studies further maths, economics, physics and computing at AS Level at Altrincham Grammar School for Boys.

He has trained hard while studying for exams and was officially graded to yellow belt last week.

He trains at the community centre, Mainwood Road and the scout hall, Park Road, both in Timperley.

His club isappealing for support and funding as students enter both fight and pattern competitions.
