URMSTON made it six wins out of seven games in all competitions with a Thursday-night T20 triumph against Premier League side Didsbury, followed by a 70-run victory over bottom of the league Barrow in Cheshire County Cricket League Division One.

In last Thursday's T20 tie, both sides went into the game knowing a win would see them progress from the group stage.

Urmston batted first and started well, opening father-and-son pair Calum and Chris Turner moving to 50-0 inside seven overs.

On a fast outfield and superb wicket at Didsbury, the pair upped the rate, moving to 150-0 from 15 overs, both players passing 50.

Chris Turner eventually departed for a well-made 77 and that brought Craig Allison to the crease, who smashed it from ball one to bring up the 200 and give the innings that extra added impetus.

Urmston closed on 215-1, run-machine Calum Turner with a superb 96 not out and Craig Allison 30.

Against a depleted Urmston bowling attack, Didsbury started well with Nick Anderson bringing up his 50 inside the first six overs.

Didsbury races to 109-1 inside 10 overs, before Craig Grindley removed Anderson for a blistering 79.

A couple of tight overs followed with youngster Arav Shetty taking one wicket at eight runs an over, a brilliant spell in the context of the game.

With six overs left, the equation was 57 required, seven wickets remaining.

The runs continued to be ticked off, with Fred Kamstra (48) and Andrew Day (33) both scoring quickly.

With one over remaining Didsbury required five runs with four wickets left.

But an unbelievable last over from veteran Ritesh Shetty saw him take a hat-trick to stun the home faithful.

With one ball left and two runs were required with one wicket left, the away side ran the number 11 batsman out going for the third run to win a tied game by losing fewer wickets and progress to the quarter-finals.

Two days later, Urmston travelled to Cheshire-based club Barrow.

Urmston batted first, amassing 242 runs from their 50 overs, Calum Turner with another magnificent century.

Chris Barlow (32) and Lewis Jackson (37) also had solid contributions.

Barrow showed promise in their response with opener David McClements and skipper Alex Reid both reaching 40. However, regular wickets curtailed the chase and it was just a case of whether or not Urmston could bowl Barrow out to claim the full 25 points.

Josh Edwards grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck, to claim three lbws in the last 10 overs with huge in-swinging deliveries to rip through the lower middle-order and dismiss the home side in the 49th over.

Edwards finished with a match-winning 4-19, while Calum Turner (3-43) and Barlow (2-56) both bowled well through the middle orders.
