TIMPERLEY'S first XI maintained their winning record in Cheshire County Cricket League Premier Division at Chester Boughton Hall.

Chester batted first on what is always a good wicket, but made a shaky start at 13-2, courtesy of a wicket each for Timperley’s opening bowlers Chris Page and Jack White.

The hosts built steadily thereafter to recover to 102-2, before the wicket of Alex Money (37) sparked a collapse which reduced Chester to 119-6.

James Crawley batted well for his 57, and Chester number eight Andrew Metcalfe scored a crucial 31 not out, in allowing Chester to limp to 199 in 50.2 overs.

The imperious Jack White took another four-wicket haul to be the pick of the Timperley attack, and take his season's tally to 20 from just five completed games.

Timperley made a solid start in reply, openers Hodnett (32) and Shafiq (18), cruising to 40-1.

This became 103-3 with the loss of Jamie Fisher (23), as Chester continued to probe at the Timperley middle order.

Jack Williams (4-62) was excellent for Chester, but was up against a determined Brooke Guest, who  proved to be pivotal in Timperley’s innings, with his 119-ball 57no.

At 149-7, though, Timperley looked to be up against it.

As has been the case all season, however, this Timperley team has a belief they can win from any position and confidence is running high.

Timperley man Dave Howarth strode to the crease with  51 runs still required and immediately  took the attack to Chester to change the momentum of the game.

He finished with 36no (29 balls, four fours, one six), seeing Timperley over the line in the 57th over to secure another crucial and impressive victory.

With five wins from five completed games, the only blemish on Timperley’s record is a game that was cancelled due to rain.

They currently sit 10 points clear at the top of the division ahead of Saturday's home game against Grappenhall at Stockport Road, 12.30pm start.
