HISTORY repeated itself in rugby league's Championship as Swinton Lions drew 22-22 with Barrow Raiders at Heywood Road.

It was the second stalemate of the season between the two sides and the result leaves Stuart Littler and Swinton still winless.

But they cannot get any closer than last weekend to an elusive first league triumph, with an 80th-minute penalty for holding down pulling Barrow level at the end.

Kicking was the decisive factor as the home side crossed the whitewash five times compared to the visitors’ three but impeccable work from Jamie Dallimore secured what could be an invaluable away point for Barrow.

The visitors led through a Ryan Fieldhouse try but in strength-sapping conditions, Dan Toal was sin binned for the Raiders with Swinton taking advantage, scoring tries through George Tyson, Rhodri Lloyd and Liam Paisley.

Barrow scored very late through Shane Toal, when they returned to their full 13 players.

A penalty drew them level after half time, before Tyson was also binned for Swinton, Dean Parata scoring with the Lions’ centre absent.

Tyson and Paisley both grabbed their second tries but Swinton were only two ahead and when the Lions held down Ryan Duffy just before the hooter blew, Dallimore held his nerve once more.
