TIMPERLEY returned to action at Cheadle with a one-wicket win in the Cheshire County Cricket League Premier Division.

Cheadle batted first and Chris Page was rewarded for some tight bowling with the early wicket of Ryan O’Brien.

Jack White continued to impress, grinding out 17 overs in the sun, with the return of four wickets, to take his season's tally to nine.

The rest of the bowlers all contributed and kept the run rate down to restrict Cheadle  to 184-9 off their 55 overs.

In reply, Grant Hodnett started brightly with a well-compiled 66, and Timperley were making steady progress at 127-3.

But Cheadle fought back well, Rashid Amin (4-46) the pick of bowlers as the middle order faltered.

Timperley lost their ninth wicket with two runs still required to set up a tense finish.

But Dave Howarth held his nerve to see Timperley home on 187-9 and extend their winning start to the campaign.

With confidence high, Nathan Brown’s men start their T20 tilt tonight against Hale Barns, before hosting Nantwich in the league at Stockport Road on Saturday.
