TRAFFORD stretched their unbeaten run to seven games with a superb 3-0 victory at Ossett Town in Evo-Stik North on Saturday.

The visitors made the early running with Sean Miller and Danny Frost going close in the opening quarter of an hour before Ally Brown put them ahead in the 23rd minute with a great low angled drive after Frost had bravely challenged home keeper Leigh Overton.

Trafford were well in control with Paul Linwood dominant in the centre of defence and skipper Scott Sephton bossing the midfield.

However, as half time approached Ossett put the visitors' defence under pressure for the first time with Alex Peterson crashing a shot against the bar from 15 yards and Isaac Assenso heading a corner inches over.

The hard, physical and at times uncompromising action continued at the start of the second half and in the 56th minute an incredible goalmouth scramble in the Trafford goal area ended with Grant Shenton saving from point-blank range to deny Peterson.

Three minutes later Darius Palma doubled Trafford’s advantage with a magnificent goal, collecting the ball on the right side of the Ossett penalty area and curling a wonderful drive into the far top corner past the helpless Overton.

Backed once more by their brilliant travelling supporters, Trafford pushed forward in search of further goals and the third arrived in the 67th minute when Andy Langford’s low drive was blocked and Aaron Burns pounced to drive the rebound hard and low into the bottom corner.

Burns then fired wide following a great move with Jack Dorney, while at the other end a towering header by Alex Low was cleared off the line by Trafford midfielder Laurence Taylor.

And in the dying seconds the hosts knew it was not their day when Linwood cleared a Peterson shot off the line and the ball fell to substitute Jake Ellam who drove it against the far post.

This victory maintains Trafford’s sixth place play-off position but they now face a mountainous task on Saturday when they entertain league leaders Hyde United at the First Point Shawe View Stadium, kick off 3pm before travelling to Radcliffe on Easter Monday.
