CHAMPIONS Timperley Cons finished the Altrincham and Sale Round the Board Darts League season in style with a resounding 5-2 victory over a strong British Rail side, who finished fourth.

The Central club needed a win or a draw to secure runners-up spot as they travelled to the Budenburgs club to take on a team of experience and quality.

Things got off to a great start for the Central with Geoff Kellet taking the first game, followed by Andy McCormack who was on fire with his finishing on the doubles and bull. The Budenburgs hit back with one of their own before the Central stepped up another gear and, courtesy of Gary Starkey, Chris White, Darren Wood and Dennis Hand, took the match 6-1. The Budenburgs finished the league in fifth place.

The Cringlewood needed a win to secure third place and they were up against a resurgent Gardeners team, and in a hard-fought battle, the Cringlewood ewon 5-2.
