SALE boxer Sam Hyde is aiming for a British title shot in 2018.

The 24-year-old cruiserweight remains undefeated after 12 professional fights, winning 11 of those so far.

And last year he teamed up with renowned trainer Joe Gallagher and now is part of a camp that contains the likes of Callum Smith, Anthony Crolla and former Olympian Natasha Jonas.

Hyde, nicknamed 'Nowhere 2', is already reaping the benefits and says this year could be the best of his fledgling career to date.

Speaking exclusively to The Messenger, Hyde said: "It is amazing to be working with Joe – I am already seeing improvements in me.

"I have learnt a lot from Joe and the other lads.

"Taking bits from the other fighters here is only going to make me a better fighter.

"As soon as I joined I saw the focus everyone has and that is rubbing off on me.

"I now want to push on and get big arena fights.

"I am ranked number 12 now so will be out looking to break into the top 10 early in 2018.

"A British title shot is the goal this year.

"I have just turned 24 so am not rushing anything and leave the decisions to Joe.

"If he thinks I should fight King Kong, then I’ll fight King Kong."

Hyde's stock is rising and he hopes to live up to the talent noticed in him by his former trainer at Sale West gym.

He added: "I started boxing at the local gym Sale West.

"I had 10 amateur fights and won them all by knockout.

"My old trainer Mr Dunn told me I had a lot of talent and believed I could be as good as Ricky Hatton and that gave me huge confidence.

"I started winning ABA and CYP titles and then got picked for England.

"I turned pro and started to work my way up and now I am with Joe.

"Hopefully I will keep improving and get those title shots soon."
