THERE was disappointment for Altrincham Kersal's first XV when they lost 42-5 to Douglas in the Isle of Man on Saturday.

It was far from ideal preparation for Kersal who had a five-hour delay at Manchester Airport and then when they did arrive in the Isle of Man, there was a 50-minute drive to Ramsey RUFC, where the game was held.

It all meant there was only time for a 25-minute warm-up and Kersal paid the price with a hefty defeat.

The seconds drew 5-5 at home against local rivals Bowdon in Division Two South, Alistair Berryman scoring the sole try for the hosts.

However, the thirds tasted defeat with a heavy 75-5 loss at Heaton Moor seconds in Division Four East.

The first XV travel to Wilmslow on Saturday and the seconds visit Chester thirds.

The thirds host North Manchester at Stelfox Avenue.
