JIM Mair starred for Urmston Hockey Club men’s seconds in a mature and skilful performance as they drew 4-4 with Golborne seconds in Division Five North South.
Having come from 1-0 down and led three times, the team could not hang on for the win with Stuart Higginbottom, Rob Skelley, Tom Frame, and Owen Monk all scoring.
Players’ player Stella Connery scored in a thrilling 3-3 draw for the ladies’ thirds as they took on Bolton with only 10 players.
Sisters Tasha and Gabi were in inspired form with Tasha also netting alongside Beth Harper, while captain Jennie Dixon made some impressive saves between the sticks.
Brad Bates and Andy Power scored again for the men’s firsts but it was not enough to see off a strong counter-attacking Deeside Ramblers seconds as they lost 3-2 in Division Two West.
The visitors scored in the opening minutes and added to their tally with a penalty stroke and a breakaway goal, but despite Bates’ late consolation Urmston could not find the winner.
