MANCHESTER Giants have boosted their ranks with the signing of former Sheffield Sharks forward Ryan Wilson.

Wilson played against the Giants for the Sharks in a pre-season game, and coach Danny Byrne moved quickly to secure his signature following his departure from the Yorkshire side.

Hailing from St Louis, Missouri, Wilson graduated from William Penn University in 2012 and has spent the past few years playing in Spain, Italy, Holland and Ireland before moving to the Sharks in the summer.

Wilson said: “The reason I signed with the Giants is because of coach Danny and the players.

“Coach was so open and honest about everything with me and liked my game. I’ve had a genuine feeling that I can be myself around him and speak to him on any issue, not just basketball, and for me that is important.

“I’m able to be me on and off the court. I’ve had the pleasure of practising with the guys this past week and everyone since day one has been nice and welcoming.

“That was a big deal to me, they really made me feel part of the team and it feels like I belong here.

“My goals this season are to win and prove myself to any doubters I might have and just have fun.”

Meanwhile, the Giants have released Frenchman Harold Trobo.

Tickets are now available for the Giants' triple header of home fixtures against Worcester (November 19), Bristol (November 26) and Sheffield (December 3). Call 0161 791 8911 for tickets.
