ANDY Shenton was at the heart of a spectacular team performance for Urmston Hockey Club's men’s thirds as they beat Alderley Edge sevenths 4-2.

Shenton and James Wright both scored impressive braces in the team’s first win of the Division Eight South East season, while goalkeeper Ryan Cherry kept the Edge at bay with an excellent display between the sticks.

Lisa Jordan-Dickenson netted four as the ladies’ seconds got back to winning ways in Division Three with a resounding 5-0 victory over Rochdale firsts.

She was joined on the scoresheet by Charlotte O’Toole with Tash Weaver impressing as players’ player in a mature defensive display.

Andy Power’s hat-trick earned him the man-of-the-match award as the men’s firsts drew 3-3 with Lancaster and Morecambe men’s firsts in Division Two (West).

The Greens were dominant for the majority of the match but could not find a winner.

The men’s seconds fell to their first loss of the Division Five North South season as they were beaten 5-4 by Rochdale seconds despite coming back from 2-0 down at half time.

Stuart Higginbotham’s tireless battling earned him two goals and the man-of-the-match honour, while Aaron Kelly also netted twice.

Stacey Bell also bagged a double haul but even that could not prevent the ladies’ firsts slipping to a 3-2 loss against University of Manchester ladies’ firsts in Division Two South West.
