BROOKLANDS suffered a 3-1 defeat at new boys Sevenoaks in the Men's Hockey League Premier Division last Saturday.

The game started with the Georges Road side having the majority of the possession, looking for openings, and the back line of Peter Flanagan and Nick Little moved the Sevenoaks forwards around but they made it hard work to penetrate through their defence.

Brooklands were too casual and after Sevenoaks won a corner, the dangerous flicker stepped up and put the ball high into the goal.

The goal seemed to wake Brooklands up, however consistent errors plagued the team.

They kept pressing forward and continued to create attacking chances and their persistence paid off when they were awarded a corner.

An eager number one runner meant Brooklands were forced to change the straight-flick option and went for a routine. The initial shot was blocked and fell to David Flanagan, who turned and shot home on the half volley to equalise.

The second half was a similar story to the first with the Sevenoaks drag-flicker scoring twice to bump up the score to 3-1. It was not a performance the Brooklands fans had been accustomed to but proof no game is easy in the Premier Division.

To add to their sorrows, number one runner Stefan Ray-Hills was injured after a flick struck him on the foot and he could be a worry for this weekend's home game against Reading.
