STARS - including Manchester United legend Paul Scholes and Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham - took part in a charity football match at the weekend.

The game at Trafford Football Club on Sunday was held to celebrate the 70th birthday of veteran radio DJ Mike Sweeney.

Four years after his illustrious playing career ended, Scholes agreed to put his boots back on to turn out for Mike Sweeney's XI. His team mates included the Mayor.

They took on the Jet2.com TV All Stars, which included actors Chris Bisson and Adam Thomas.

The game, which finished all square at 3-3, raised more than £3,000 for the North West Air Ambulance Charity.
