ISOBEL Seed was too much to handle for a strong Bury seconds as the starlet netted four goals to seal a 6-3 win for Urmston Hockey Club ladies’ seconds that moves them into second place.

Pick of the bunch was a virtuoso solo goal having robbed possession at the halfway line before tearing away and netting.

Captain Moe Rothwell joined Seed on the scoresheet with a ferocious strike, while Charlotte O’Toole turned in a well-worked penalty corner involving the returning Kelly Davies.

Man-of-the-match Owen Monk netted a hat-trick to make it two wins from two for the men’s seconds as they beat City of Manchester thirds 4-1.

A second-half flurry sealed the win after going in 1-0 up at half time, with captain Ric Clarke weighing in with Urmston’s other goal.

The win moves Urmston to third on goal difference and they are yet to concede from open play after the away side netted from the penalty spot.

It was last-gasp heartbreak for the men’s firsts as they lost 3-2 to the final touch of the game at Liverpool Sefton firsts, despite Mike Tonge’s last-minute equaliser and man-of-the-match Sean Barrett’s tireless midfield display.

Brad Bates also netted for the Greens before Tonge’s goal looked to have salvaged a point.

But the Merseysiders netted from a late goalmouth scramble.

Man-of-the-match Stuart Higginbotham netted on his return for the men’s thirds but it was not to be as they fell 2-1 to Sale thirds.

The Greens were dominant for large parts of the game but were unfortunate as Sale left with all three points.

Similarly the ladies’ thirds were unlucky as they lost 3-0 to Oldham fourths, despite going in 0-0 at the break while the ladies’ firsts shared the spoils in a 4-4 draw with Sale ladies’ firsts.
