IT was a disappointing bag of results last weekend for Altrincham Kersal with only the second team securing a win, beating Whitchurch at home 57-0.

The victory maintained their winning start to the season and put them six points clear at the top of Division Two South.

They started well, showing dominance with attacking rugby and good support play.

Tries came from Dale McLean, Jack Snoddy (hat-trick), Louis Taylor, Seb Ellis, Callum Yates, Jack Braithwaite and Jack Gallimore, while there were five conversions from Braithwaite and one from Gallimore.

A good first half saw Kersal go into the break 38-0 up but Whitchurch came back firing early in the second half in the search for points.

However, Kersal’s defence continuously denied them at each opportunity.

Fortunes were not so favourable for the first and third XVs as they both suffered heavy defeats away from home.

The firsts became another North One West scalp for runaway leaders Vale of Lune, losing 60-12, while the thirds were demolished by Hope Valley RFC 72-0.

On Sunday, the Under-17s Colts lost their fourth match in a row, going down 69-0 at Lymm, but there was some promise shown by the U13s as they narrowly lost 25-20 at Bowdon.
