AMERICAN shooting guard Austin Rettig is Manchester Giants’ third new signing of the summer.
The 23-year-old is renowned for his exciting style of play and outrageous dunks and is sure to bring some highlights to the Powerleague Trafford Sportsdome in the new season, which gets under way next month.
Hailing from Texas, Rettig studied at the University of Tampa playing for the Tampa Spartans and comes to the British Basketball League for his rookie year as a professional.
Giants coach Danny Byrne said: “We’ve done a lot of homework on Austin and we are delighted to have signed him.
“He is very team focused, a humble guy and he’s going to suit the way I want to play, and also suit the guys we’ve already got.
“His highlight reels are crazy, there are some ridiculous dunks in there, and hopefully we can help him launch his professional career.”
The Giants new number 10 Rettig said: “I am beyond excited to start my career as a Giant. I am looking forward to playing for coach Byrne.”
Rettig joins British forward Clayfell Harris, signed from Leeds Force, and guard Mark Rangeley from Lancashire Spinners as new arrivals this summer.
