ALTRINCHAM Kersal's first XV will take on a club legends side in support of the Georgie's Gift charity on Saturday, August 12.

The event is in memory of Georgie, the daughter of Kersal vice captain Steve Richardson and Becca Whiting, who was born in September 2015 with congenital heart disease.

This was diagnosed during pregnancy and meant that she would need open heart surgery.

Georgie was monitored constantly, with many appointments and hospital trips, until she had her surgery at Alder Hey Children's hospital in August 2016 where it was discovered her condition was much worse than originally thought.

Georgie went through two more operations to try to fix her heart but after a 10-week battle, during which her family celebrated her first birthday at her bedside, they tragically had to say goodbye to her aged just 13 months.

Georgie was incredibly brave throughout all of this and her family now want to be just as brave and create something in her honour.

The Georgie's Legends Day charity match at Stelfox Avenue will also include a family fun day, raffle prizes, auction items including signed Manchester United and Manchester City shirts, a signed Jonny Wilkinson World Cup winning drop goal framed photograph, signed Leicester Tigers shirt plus lots more signed sporting memorabilia

Kick off is 2pm, with the clubhouse open from noon and admission is £5 for adults and free for children.

All proceeds will go to Ronald McDonald House Charity, who were so supportive during the time spent at Alder Hey Hospital for Georgie's family.
