HALE Golf Club officials and members are delighted with the extension to their already excellent clubhouse, which was completed in just 17 weeks.

Hale professional Richard Booth has benefited with a new shop which is now in full working order.

He said: “As well as the new pro shop there are other add-ons that include a bigger bar area and space for functions, a disabled toilet, a new office area and improved changing rooms for both ladies and men.

“The cost was about £500,000 but will greatly improve the services the club can offer, including social events and functions and has added to the fine facilities we offer at a great club.”

The final destination is in sight after the latest draw for round three in the top two Manchester Alliance Inter-Club Knockouts for the Dunham Forest Trophy and the City Glass Men’s Foursomes, which are the biggest of their kind in the country.

In the Dunham Forest Trophy, which sees the club professional and the top six amateurs representing their clubs in a competition which had nearly 100 entries, the holders Leigh are out.

They have dominated the competition in recent years, winning three times in a row for a record number of five, but they were beaten at home by Helsby who visit Pike Fold as they look to make the last eight.

The rest of the draw is: Blackburn v Leyland, Bolton Old Links v Lymm, Denton v Didsbury, Manchester v Crompton and Royton, Ringway v Ashton-under-Lyne, Whitefield v Harwood and Wigan v Reddish Vale.

In the City Glass Men’s Foursomes the draw is: Birchwood v Westhoughton, Bramall Park v Dukinfield, Didsbury v Macclesfield, High Legh Park v Ellesmere, Houldsworth v Alderley Edge, Leyland v Dunscar, Tytherington v Crompton and Royton and Marriott Worsley Park v Hart Common.
